Haryana government will develop five new cities along the much-awaited Kundli-Manesar-Palwal, better known as KMP Expressway. The announcement was made by the minister for industries and commerce Vipul Goel on Aug. 28, Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference on MSME Funding, by the PHD Chamber of Commerce, Goel said that the new cities will be developed within two kilometers on either side of the KMP Expressway and the area would be named ‘Panchagram.’ However, the five cities will have different names as well.

“In the coming times, the KMP Expressway would completely transform the industrial scenario in Haryana,” NDTV quoted the minister as saying. “The present government has provided facilities to entrepreneurs, to give a boost to the industrial sector in the state, to create large-scale job opportunities.”

A draft for Panchgram Development Authority Bill has already been prepared and will reportedly be submitted to the state assembly after cabinet’s approval.

The minister also declared that the state government has planned to develop an industrial corridor along KMP Western Expressway with world-class facilities. An industrial and commercial township is being planned to set up on 3,300 acres area at Kharkhoda in Sonipat. This township will be one-of-its-kind in India, said the minister.

Another industrial model township has been developed on 1,400 acres in Sohna of Gururgram.  Both these townships will be connected to KMP Expressway while Sohna township would also be linked to Gurugram-Sohna-Alwar Highway.

Earlier it was reported that a proposed green field city will come up next to Gurugram and will be planned and developed on public-private partnership (PPP) model. The Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has reportedly been given the responsibility to develop these cities.

The proposed city will be next to Gurgaon and is expected to be larger than Chandigarh. NH-8 will define the western boundary of the city while the eastern and the southern sides will adjoin agricultural land while being connected to KMP Expressway.
