Numerous industrial initiatives are currently underway along the Yamuna Expressway, strategically aligned with the development of the Noida International Airport in Jewar. These projects are poised to stimulate job creation and economic progress in the region.
Approximately 90 percent of the designated areas in close proximity to the airport have been earmarked as industrial sectors, with a particular focus on bolstering warehousing and logistics infrastructure.
These sectors encompass a wide range of manufacturing industries, including the likes of a toy park, a medical device manufacturing park, an apparel park, a data center park, electric vehicle manufacturing hubs, and a handicraft park. All of these endeavors are situated adjacent to the expressway.
Progress in the Industrial Sectors around the Airport
As part of this forward momentum, the foundation stone for the Apparel Industrial Park was ceremoniously laid earlier this week under the aegis of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
Encompassing an expansive 175 acres, the Apparel Park is poised to emerge as a prominent establishment, with 39 companies already securing plot ownership from YEIDA. Of the total 89 plots available, 81 have already been allocated to various enterprises, according to reports from the Times of India.
Foreseen to attract an investment of Rs 3,000 crore, the park is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for around 300,000 individuals, with women constituting 75 percent of this workforce. Officials estimate that the park will achieve an annual revenue of Rs 10,000 crore through garment exports.
Arun Vir Singh, the CEO of YEIDA, indicated that most of the companies with plot ownership are expected to commence construction within the span of a month.
Lalit Thukral, President of the Noida Apparel Export Cluster, highlighted the significance of this initiative for the apparel sector, which faced substantial losses during the pandemic. He emphasized that the Apparel Park will stand as a unique endeavor in northern India, adorned with fruit trees lining the roads leading to the area, and featuring an effluent treatment plant with zero liquid discharge.
The park will boast a 45-meter-wide internal road network, connecting various zones. It will incorporate showrooms for diverse companies, a raw material sourcing hub, a testing laboratory, a design studio, a sampling facility, units for labeling and broadcasting, skill development centers, and facilities for dyeing and printing, among other amenities.
Progress is also evident in the advancement of the Medical Device Park and Toy Park projects.
According to a report from MoneyControl, as many as 37 companies are slated to take possession in the Medical Device Park. YEIDA introduced the second phase of the Medical Device Park in Sector 28, receiving 58 applications. The completion of the first phase is anticipated this year.
Furthermore, this upcoming Saturday will witness the ceremonial laying of the foundation for the state’s inaugural Toy Park in Sector 33, according to a TOI report.
Responding to a request from the Toy Association of India, YEIDA launched a plot scheme in 2020, allocating 100 acres of land. A total of 134 companies were granted plots of 4,000 sqm and larger, with the goal of promoting toy manufacturing.
The Noida International Airport in Jewar, spanning an expansive 5,000 acres, serves as a testament to India’s burgeoning infrastructure. The NIA is poised to become a world-class airport, equipped with efficient facilities for airlines, hotels, cargo operations, and commercial partnerships. Its objective is to provide short turnaround times and cost-effective operational expenses for airlines.
