“The Noida Authority allocates residential plots to over 350 farmers in various sectors, fulfilling rehabilitation commitments amid ongoing protests”

The Noida Authority plans to give residential plots to over 350 farmers in different sectors as part of its policy to allocate 5% of plots to farmers. Sector 146 will get the most with 268 plots, while Sector 43 will receive 42 plots, and the rest will be distributed across other sectors.

This decision comes amid ongoing farmer protests demanding 10% of abadi plots in exchange for their land. Originally, the Authority wanted to give land for group housing projects in Sector 146. However, due to farmer protests about not getting residential plots as promised, this plan changed. The aim now is to meet the demands of farmers from over 10 villages.

As per Authority guidelines, 5% of the acquired land is given to affected farmers for rehabilitation. If they can’t get residential plots, they can choose monetary compensation, which is Rs 22,000 per square metre.

The Authority tries to allocate plots within 3km of the farmer’s village. If that’s not possible, plots are given in other sectors. Additional CEO Satish Pal said the Authority has identified the land and completed formalities. The list of farmers will be published online and in newspapers. People can give suggestions and objections for the next 15 days.

The Authority will review objections and allot plots accordingly. Meanwhile, farmers continue to protest outside the Authority’s Sector 6 office.
