The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) plans to train both new and existing real estate agents across the state and issue them certificates. This move aims to bring transparency and accountability to agents’ work and enhance their credibility in the industry, according to officials.

Officials stated that undergoing training and obtaining certification will be mandatory for new agents seeking registration with RERA. The training program will cover the provisions of the RERA Act and UPRERA rules, as well as educate agents about the regulatory authority’s structure and the interests of homebuyers.

The first round of certification courses is scheduled to begin in April 2024 in Lucknow. Real estate agents registered on the portal and based in Lucknow are encouraged to enroll promptly. The training program details will be provided after enrollment.

UPRERA will conduct a three-day training program covering various aspects such as the RERA Act, compliance, rules and regulations, stakeholders’ roles, and relevant laws to facilitate real estate transactions. An examination will be conducted on the fourth day, and certificates will be awarded upon evaluation.

Sanjay Bhoosreddy, UPRERA Chairman, emphasized the importance of training and certification for real estate agents to ensure transparency and credibility in the sector. He stated that over 6,700 agents are currently registered, and obtaining certification is now mandatory for both new and existing agents. Existing agents have been given a one-year grace period to undergo training and obtain certification, failing which their RERA registration will be cancelled.
