The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has invited bids to auction commercial spaces in several green zones across the capital. This is part of a broader initiative to enhance public engagement with open spaces. The aim is to promote eco-friendly commercial ventures, as reported by Hindustan Times.
The e-auction process began on Friday, according to officials. Interested parties can register and submit their earnest money deposit (EMD) until June 26. The initiative includes unique, concept-driven spaces. These include a Bus Kitchen Cafe at Yamuna Vatika in Old Rajinder Nagar. There is also a Garden Cafe and Container Cafe inside Asita Park near ITO. Additionally, a curated temporary market is located at Baansera near Birsa Munda Chowk.
The Bus Kitchen Cafe features a decommissioned Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus repurposed into a quick-service food outlet. This concept is designed to reduce scrappage waste while introducing innovative food retail formats. Meanwhile, the Garden Cafe at Asita Park is currently operating as a tented, open-air dining space. It will be handed over to a new vendor. Also within Asita Park, the Container Cafe comprises modular structures. These structures are built from recycled shipping containers. This setup offers a plug-and-play solution ideal for food and beverage businesses. It’s also suitable for lifestyle retail ventures along the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
At Baansera, a temporary bazaar is planned to accommodate eco-conscious retailers offering organic food, sustainable fashion, handloom, and handicraft products. This curated market is expected to attract both small business operators and customers seeking environmentally responsible options. The DDA emphasized that these projects align with the lieutenant governorās vision of integrating sustainability with accessible commercial development. The properties are strategically located and come equipped with existing infrastructure, ensuring a quick launch for new operators.
In a separate development, the DDA is seeking private operators. They aim to manage and maintain three newly developed sports complexes in Dwarka. Each complex is designated as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for specific sports disciplines. The facility in Sector 8, which was inaugurated earlier this month, is dedicated to wrestling, boxing, judo, and karate. The complex in Sector 19 focuses on tennis and shooting. The complex in Sector 23 will support hockey and football.
According to DDA documents, the selected firm will be responsible for maintaining each complex for a minimum of two years. They must also ensure regular coaching and training sessions are available for all supported sports. The initiative aims to foster excellence, inclusivity, and long-term growth in Delhiās sporting ecosystem. It does this by providing athletes with access to high-performance training environments.
