BENGALURU — The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) plans to set up 1,000 kiosks across the city to streamline the e-khata application process, according to Munish Moudgil, special commissioner for revenue. As published by The Economic Times.

Currently, only about 1.6 lakh of Bengaluru’s 22 lakh property owners have obtained an e-khata, with an additional 1.4 lakh applications pending. To address this backlog, BBMP aims to engage local residents who have successfully acquired the document to assist others in navigating the system.

Individuals familiar with computer operations and e-khata documentation can volunteer at the kiosks. Volunteers will receive a BBMP login ID to upload documents directly to the civic body’s servers. They will be required to use only BBMP servers, and a nominal fee will be charged for the service, Moudgil said.

BBMP will provide the necessary technology and infrastructure to facilitate the initiative. The first e-khata kiosk is scheduled to open next week in HRBR Layout, with the full-scale rollout expected soon.
