Former President Shri Ram Nath Kovind to confer Special TIOL Awards in the field of economics, policy-making and fiscal federalism on Prof. Jagdish Bhagwati, Dr. Vijay Kelkar & Shri N. K. Singh
New Delhi, 1st April, 2024: India’s pioneering platform for deliberations on a wide-range of economic, public finance and hardcore taxation issues – ‘TIOL’ will be organizing a special award ceremony on 6th April, 2024, wherein the former President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind will honour eminent Indian-American economist and a Professor of Economics & Law at Columbia University Prof. Jagdish N. Bhagwati with prestigious ‘TIOL Kautilya Global Award 2023’, and the duo of prominent policymakers Dr. Vijay Kelkar, Chairman, 13th Finance Commission of India and Shri N. K. Singh, Chairman, 15th Finance Commission of India with ‘TIOL Fiscal Heritage Award 2023’ for their profound & unparallel contribution to the field of economics & their impact on policy making. This one-day event will be held at Hotel Taj Mansingh in New Delhi.
On the occasion, ‘Padma Bhushan’ Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of 16th Finance Commission of India and Professor of Economics & Jagdish Bhagwati Professor of Indian Political Economy at Columbia University will deliver the special address.
The eminent personalities slated to address the event include Mr. Larry H. Summers, former US Treasury Secretary, Prof. Lord Nicolas Stern of London School of Economics, Dr. C. Rangarajan, former Governor of RBI, Dr. P. Thiaga Rajan, Minister of IT & Digital Services, Tamil Nadu, Prof. Klaus Schwab, Chairman, World Economic Forum and Justice Shiva Kirti Singh, former Judge of Supreme Court of India and also the Chairman of the Jury for TIOL Awards.
