The Haryana government is planning to build a 60-meter-wide road linking the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway to the under-construction Global City project, a sprawling mixed-use development coming up across more than 1,000 acres along Pataudi Road in Sector 36, Gurugram, officials said Friday, as reported by Hindustan Times.
According to a senior official with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), the proposed road will run along a recently built drain in Narsinghpur and will significantly improve access to the Global City project, which already has connectivity from both Pataudi Road and the Dwarka Expressway.
The proposed corridor will pass through land in the villages of Khandsa and Mohammadpur Jharsa. Some portions are privately owned and currently under litigation, while others belong to the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), the agency overseeing the project.
“The Global City is among the Haryana government’s flagship urban infrastructure projects, and providing direct connectivity to the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway is expected to enhance its accessibility and value,” the GMDA official said on condition of anonymity.
The road proposal will be tabled for discussion next week at the first meeting of the district coordination committee, which will be chaired by D.S. Dhesi, principal advisor for urban development in the state government. The committee is also expected to review several other infrastructure proposals for the Gurugram region.
The road will be constructed alongside the existing kuccha drain, which was developed to channel runoff from the low-lying areas of Narsinghpur into the Badshahpur drain, according to planning officials.
Global City is being developed by HSIIDC across Sectors 36, 36B, 37, and 37B.
Envisioned as a next-generation urban center, the project will span nearly 12 million square meters of built-up area and include commercial towers, residential buildings, offices, retail zones, hospitals, educational institutions, hospitality and cultural spaces, a startup and innovation hub, an incubation zone, exhibition-cum-convention center, green areas, and water bodies.
The first phase of the project, currently under development, covers 587 acres.
Work in this phase includes the construction of 13 kilometers of internal roads, landscaping across 82 acres, 26 kilometers of stormwater drainage, 11.96 kilometers of potable water infrastructure, a 12-kilometer recycled water pipeline, and a 10-kilometer utility tunnel. Officials said this phase is expected to be completed by December 2026.
