IKEA India Joins Hands With Mumbai’s Rustomjee Group To Provide Furnished Homes

    For the very first time in its history, world-acclaimed IKEA India has joined hands with a developer to provide furnished apartments. According to a recent strategic alliance formed with realty developer Rustomjee Group, the Swedish multinational will provide furnished apartments in the latter’s residence project.

    As per the agreement, IKEA India will provide ready-to-assemble furniture for around 1,200 apartments in Rustomjee’s project Global City Virar near Mumbai. The project will reportedly offer 1 and 2 bedroom apartments at prices starting from Rs 32 lakh excluding taxes.

    Rustomjee Group has already delivered nearly 5,000 apartments in the first phase of its project Global City. The group is now launching 1,750 units in the next phase and IKEA furnished homes will be part of newly launched phases.

    “This is a pilot project and we would like to extend this association with IKEA across our similar residential projects,” ET Realty quoted Boman R. Irani, Chairman, Rustomjee Group, as saying. “We’ll start delivering the project in two years by December 2020.”

    The Chairman further added that the group will deliver Rs 700 crore affordable IKEA furnished homes in the coming times. As of now, only 1 & 2 BHK configurations are available in the project.

    Apart from IKEA India collaboration, the project boasts of strategic location, amenities like swimming pool, the basketball court, the 2.35 lac sq. ft constructed clubhouse and the amusement park inside the premises while shopping malls, movie theatres, restaurants on one side and top-notch educational institutions and healthcare facilities in the locality.
