Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath virtually inaugurated the foundation for IKEA’s new store in Noida on Monday (9).

As reported by the Economic Times, the store is part of a larger ₹5,500 crore ($667 million) investment by Ingka Centres, a subsidiary of the Ingka Group, which also includes IKEA Retail and Ingka Investments.

Located behind the Sector 51 and 52 metro stations, the store will be a part of the Lykli Noida project, a major multi-functional development. It’s the second Meeting Place project in India under the Lykli brand, and construction is expected to be completed by 2028.

The Lykli Noida project is poised to generate more than 9,000 jobs and attract 25 million visitors annually, making it a key investment milestone for the state of Uttar Pradesh. Spanning 47,833 square meters, this development will be one of the largest retail projects in the Delhi NCR region, highlighting Noida’s growing prominence as an investment destination.

In a statement, Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized the importance of this project, noting, “The unveiling of Lykli in Noida marks a significant step forward in the development of Uttar Pradesh as a hub of modern urban living.”

At the core of the Lykli Noida project is a revolutionary Meeting Place concept, which integrates retail with communal spaces. Designed as a multi-functional area, it will combine shopping, dining, workspaces, and cultural experiences in a single location. Anchored by an IKEA store, the Meeting Place will create a well-rounded experience where people can interact, shop, and work all in one destination.

In addition to the IKEA store, Lykli Noida will offer co-working spaces, hotels, restaurants, and edutainment zones—spaces designed for learning and family entertainment. It will also feature venues for cultural and social gatherings, promoting community interaction.

Sustainability is a key element of the Lykli Noida project. According to Ingka Centres, the development will incorporate green building practices and eco-friendly materials, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Susanne Pulverer, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA India, stated, “Together with Ingka Centres, we will become a strong contributor to increase the overall home furnishing market and bring a unique retail experience for the many people.”

Ingka Centres has a long history of developing large-scale retail and community hubs. With more than 40 years of experience, the company currently operates 35 Meeting Places across 13 countries and works with over 3,000 brands. The Noida project will be Ingka Centres’ second Meeting Place in India, following the upcoming launch of the Lykli Gurugram Meeting Place, scheduled to open by late 2025 with a ₹3,500 crore ($424 million) investment.

The foundation of the IKEA store in Noida not only signals the company’s growing presence in India but also aligns with Ingka Centres’ vision of creating dynamic, multi-use spaces that blend retail, work, and community activities.

Sebastian Hylving, Global Expansion and Development Director at Ingka Centres, remarked, “The unveiling of Lykli in Noida is a landmark in our journey to create meeting places that resonate with local communities while embracing exceptional standards of innovation and sustainability.”

With its modern approach to retail, Lykli Noida is set to become a landmark destination in the Delhi NCR region, offering a vibrant and sustainable environment for residents and visitors alike.
