The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has announced plans to initiate land acquisition for the third phase of the highly anticipated Noida International Airport in Jewar. With the airport’s proximity to the Yamuna Expressway, this expansion is expected to facilitate tourist travel to popular destinations like Agra, Mathura, and Vrindavan, while also giving a significant boost to the industrial sector in the area.

According to Arun Vir Singh, the CEO of YEIDA, the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) for the third phase has been scheduled to be completed by August 30, 2023. The SIA will be conducted by the esteemed Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, in accordance with the provisions of The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013. Upon approval of the SIA report, the land acquisition process is expected to commence in September or early October. The third phase aims to acquire over 2,000 hectares of land.

The Uttar Pradesh government, through a recent notification, highlighted that the development of the upcoming Noida International Airport will pave the way for industrial growth in the vicinity, leading to increased employment opportunities and enhanced export potential. Furthermore, the airport’s strategic location will contribute to the growth of tourism.

The 14 villages in Jewar tehsil of Gautam Buddh Nagar district affected by the land acquisition include Thora, Neemka Shahjahanpur, Khwajpur, Ramner, Kishorpur, Banwaribans, Parohi, Mukimpur Shiwara, Jewar Bangar, Sabauta Mustafabad, Ahmadpur Chauroli, Dayanatpur, Bankapur, and Rohi. These areas will witness substantial development as the land acquired in the third phase will primarily be utilized for the construction of three runways and associated facilities for the airport.

Arun Vir Singh expressed his optimism regarding the timeline of the land acquisition process, stating that he expects the formalities, including the submission and approval of the SIA report, to be completed by September 2023. He further mentioned that the distribution of compensation for the land acquired in the second phase of the airport project has already commenced earlier this month.

With 1,365 hectares acquired during the first phase and an additional 1,364 hectares in the second phase, the Noida International Airport is on track to open its doors to travelers in September 2024. The airport’s strategic location near the Yamuna Expressway will not only serve as a gateway for seamless tourist travel but also foster industrial growth and promote the thriving tourism industry.

As the third phase of land acquisition is set to begin in the coming months, all eyes are on the progress of the Noida International Airport, which is poised to become a key player in the region’s economic and infrastructural development.
