Tata Company has been selected to supply electricity for the upcoming Noida International Airport, which is slated to begin operations in December 2024.

As reported by the DNA this critical infrastructure project, undertaken in collaboration with the Yamuna Development Authority, includes the construction of a 10-megawatt power station and a solar power installation of equal capacity.

The project involves Tata Company establishing a comprehensive power supply system for the airport. A new 10-megawatt power station will serve as the main electricity source. Additionally, Tata will install a 10-megawatt solar panel system, emphasizing a commitment to integrating renewable energy into the airport’s infrastructure.

To ensure the distribution of electricity across the airport, Tata will also build 33 kV substations in Sectors 18 and 20. These substations are essential for managing the airport’s power needs and are planned to be upgraded to 220 kV to support future expansions.

With all necessary approvals in place, the construction of these power infrastructure components is expected to start imminently. Dr. Arunveer Singh, CEO of the Yamuna Development Authority, confirmed that Tata Company has obtained all required licenses. In the interim, the airport is receiving power from Jahangirpur to maintain the construction schedule and ensure that the airport remains on track for its December 2024 opening.

The electricity infrastructure is planned to be fully operational by the time the first flights take off from Noida International Airport in December 2024. The work on substations and power lines will continue in parallel to ensure all systems are functional and ready to support airport operations from day one.

This partnership between Tata Company and the Yamuna Development Authority is crucial in establishing a reliable and sustainable power supply for Noida International Airport. With Tata’s involvement, the airport is set to become a model of energy efficiency and sustainability in the aviation industry. The progress of this project will be closely monitored as it plays a vital role in the successful launch of this new international airport, positioning it as a significant hub in India’s growing aviation sector.
