May 8, 2020: The first “RERA Samvaad” to address the problems of home buyers and other stakeholders through video conference was organised by Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority, UP RERA, today on May 8, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The authority was represented by Honorable Chairman, Honorable Members and senior RERA officers.
As the nationwide lock down continues and to maintain the social distancing norms to fight COVID-19 by reducing the number of visitors in the office location, UP RERA decided to launch RERA Samvaad for people to solve any complaints or grievances to raise and to meet up senior RERA officers face to face while resolving their issues.
The grievances were categorized in three categories – complaints, order execution and project related issues. As many as 30 queries/complaints/grievances were raised by aggrieved home buyers during two hours-long public grievances session. Around 10
questions each in the categories were listed for the authority.
Some of the grievances raised by home buyers related to Complaint issues were regarding issuance of recovery certificates, poor construction quality, delay in possession, stalled projects, etc. For the order execution related issues, clarifications which the home buyers asked were mostly on the refund orders which were not duly complied with and the order is still
pending, and the Promoter is not offering refund nor possession.
For the Project related issues, home buyers raised the issues such as despite of giving hefty amount of maintenance promoter is not giving anything at this cost, the delivery date has expired for a project however the project is still under construction and many more related issues.
Hon’ble Chairman U.P. RERA Sh. Rajive Kumar said, “RERA Samvaad is an effort to facilitate the stakeholders for having a dialogue with us related to their issues. It will be the endeavor of the Authority to address the issues aired by the participants expeditiously.”
During the Samvaad, Hon’ble Chairman clarified many doubts and queries of the home buyers. He also directed the concerned RERA officers to examine the grievances and take concrete and necessary action to solve their problems and inform them in stipulated timeline.
People participating during the Samvaad appreciated the Authority for hearing public grievances virtually and finding solutions to their problems in an efficient manner. It may be noted that 112 queries were received by the Authority for RERA Samvaad within first few hours of making the online platform live.
The remaining requests which were unable to be listed today, the Authority will take them up in the next week. More and more people are registering themselves on hourly basis.
The Authority will continue to hear the public grievances through “RERA Samvaad”, the online platform between 3:00 to 4:00 PM in the next week in the time bound manner.

The authority will talk to the first 30 persons registering for hearing on a given date. The authority will use Microsoft Teams application for the video conference. The authority will send the link for the meeting to those registering for hearing a day prior to the date of the meeting.
The concerned persons need to have the facility of smart phone/laptop/desktop with good internet connection. The person using the desktop will need to arrange webcam, speaker and microphone.
