The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is seeking to hire a third-party agency. This agency will audit and monitor the quality of its ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects. Officials announced this initiative and has been reported by The Economic Times.

The initiative aims to guarantee top-tier construction standards and fault-free execution across its rapidly expanding development portfolio.

According to YEIDA, the selected agency will be responsible for a range of quality assurance tasks. These tasks include setting up material testing laboratories. They also involve collecting samples and arranging laboratory and field tests. Additionally, the agency will submit detailed reports to the authority on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The reports will outline any quality concerns and monitor whether project engineers are taking timely, corrective actions.

A request for proposal (RFP) was issued last week for the selection of the agency. The deadline for application submissions is June 9.

“With so many civic projects and infrastructure schemes underway — including Noida International Airport, Film City, Toy Park, and the proposed Semiconductor Park — YEIDA is focusing on maintaining the highest quality standards,” a senior authority official said. “Hiring a third-party quality assurance agency is part of that effort.”

The agency will be required to deploy teams based on project size and value. For projects up to ₹500 crore, smaller teams will be assigned. Larger-scale developments will involve more extensive staffing to match project complexity.

The agency’s responsibilities will also include surprise and scheduled inspections at various construction stages. For road works, it will verify whether the materials used meet the specifications of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). It will also check if the pavement layer thickness meets these specifications. For drains, sewerage, water supply, buildings, and electrical systems, compliance will be checked against Indian Standards and established engineering norms.

All construction projects will be brought under the purview of this audit. This includes those handled by project management consultants (PMCs) or other government entities. YEIDA will bear the full cost of lab testing, technical evaluations, and any specialized equipment required by the agency.

The agency will also issue recommendations based on its audits. However, the final decision on whether to act on those suggestions will remain with YEIDA.

Currently, YEIDA is engaged in a wide range of infrastructure works. These include the development of roads, drainage systems, and sewer lines. They also involve water supply, electrical grids, and overhead tanks, as well as civil structures, horticulture, and other urban services. These initiatives span residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional zones within the authority’s jurisdiction.
