The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) announced Monday plans to build a ₹250 crore, four-lane elevated road spanning 2.5 kilometers from Iteda to Crossings Republik via Shahberi, according to the Hindustan Times.
The project aims to ease traffic congestion and strengthen regional connectivity, particularly with the expected increase in traffic once the Noida International Airport becomes operational later this year.
The authority has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) to select a project management consultancy (PMC) firm that will prepare a detailed project report (DPR). The DPR will cover all aspects of project planning, design, and cost estimation, officials said.
“The selected PMC will be responsible for preparing a comprehensive DPR covering all aspects of project planning, design, and cost estimation,” said Ravi Kumar NG, CEO of GNIDA. The Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) in Delhi has already completed the feasibility study and alignment finalization.
The PMC will conduct detailed topographical, geotechnical, and hydrological surveys. It will identify utilities that need relocation, assess right-of-way requirements, and prepare detailed engineering designs for the elevated structure, ramps, service roads, drainage, pavements, safety measures, lighting, and signage. The DPR will serve as the basis for approvals, funding, and eventual construction.
In March, GNIDA classified the project as a regional connectivity initiative, with joint funding proposed from Ghaziabad, GNIDA, Noida Authority, and YEIDA. Cost estimates will include a bill of quantities, land acquisition and utility relocation, and environmental mitigation measures. If required, the PMC will conduct an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and prepare a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) in accordance with legal and policy requirements, including public consultations and obtaining clearances.
The PMC will also be responsible for creating a traffic management plan during construction, outlining diversion routes, temporary arrangements, and marshals at critical points to ensure minimal disruption and pedestrian safety. During implementation, the firm may help prepare tender documents, respond to bidder queries, evaluate technical proposals, and assist with contract finalization. Advisory support during construction may include reviewing contractor plans, quality control, resolving technical issues, and monitoring progress.
Officials said the elevated road will significantly reduce travel time, relieve congestion on existing routes, and provide a vital connection between Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad.
