The central government has approved a 30-kilometer expressway to strengthen road connectivity between Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and the upcoming Jewar International Airport, according to News24.
The new expressway, running parallel to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, will link Pashta Road with the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway. The proposal was first put forward by Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed support for the project during a tree plantation event at the Jewar Airport site as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. Dr. Sharma emphasized, “Creating a direct and effective road link is not only necessary but absolutely essential to realize the full potential of Jewar Airport.”
Gadkari added that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will oversee the project and assured that funding will not be a problem. He highlighted that the central government is working on major infrastructure projects in the Delhi-NCR region, with several initiatives worth ₹1.2 lakh crore already in progress, half of which have been completed. Gadkari further stated that an additional ₹40,000-50,000 crore is planned for infrastructure development.
The Noida Authority granted principal approval for the riverside expressway in March 2025. The project is aimed at easing congestion on the already overburdened Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has been tasked with implementing the expressway and coordinating a cost-sharing arrangement among the Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway authorities.
