The Ghaziabad Development Authority has appointed a private consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for its planned Harnandipuram township near the Delhi-Meerut Road, officials said Tuesday, as published by Hindustan Times.

The DPR for Phase 1 is expected to be ready within two months, following the issuance of a work order to the selected consultant. The GDA had floated a request for proposal in April for the consultancy contract.

“The GDA has selected a private agency and issued the work order for DPR preparation for Phase 1,” said Rudresh Shukla, the authority’s media coordinator. “We have also started direct land purchases from farmers for the initial phase.”

Planned across approximately 521 hectares, the Harnandipuram township will be developed in phases. Phase 1 involves acquiring around 336.84 hectares of land from five villages: Mathurapur, Shamsher, Champat Nagar, Bhaneda Khurd, and Nagla Firozpur Mohan. In total, land will be procured from eight villages.

To promote cooperation from landowners, the GDA announced on March 29 that it would compensate farmers at four times the prevailing circle rates in the five villages identified for Phase 1.

The new township is being planned with smart infrastructure features, including proximity to public transportation such as the Metro and the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), energy-efficient power management systems with solar integration, smart street lighting, and measures to enhance women’s safety.

Officials say the township’s proximity to both the Delhi-Meerut Road and the RRTS corridor is expected to significantly improve connectivity and increase the township’s appeal for future residents and investors.

In a move to strengthen connectivity with Delhi, the GDA is also planning a new elevated road. This new link will offer direct access from Harnandipuram to Karhera Rotary, which connects to the existing 10.3-kilometer Hindon elevated road. The Hindon elevated corridor provides a signal-free route from Raj Nagar Extension to UP-Gate at the Delhi border near Ghazipur, cutting travel time to around 10 to 12 minutes.

Harnandipuram is proposed to come up behind the Raj Nagar Extension, and officials say the new elevated road will allow for smooth, uninterrupted travel to East Delhi.
