The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) will soon launch a slot-based registration system for property buyers in an effort to streamline the process and reduce congestion at its office, as published by The Economic Times.

Similar to systems used for issuing driving licenses and passports, the new model will require buyers to book date and time slots online through the GDA portal. Applicants must first compile their property documents according to a checklist, then arrive at the GDA office during the allotted slot to complete the paperwork.

On average, the Authority processes more than 80 property registries each month, which translates to at least 11 per day. Officials say the current process is complex and often leads to buyers making multiple trips to the GDA office, sometimes waiting in line for hours without success.

“There have been incidents when buyers had to return without their work getting done after waiting in line for hours,” said Atul Vats, vice-chairperson of the GDA. “This is frustrating for them and adversely impacts our revenue as well. With the new system, buyers can choose a convenient date and time for completing the process.”

The Authority has already begun upgrading its property management system on its portal to support the rollout of the new service, which is expected to launch in the coming months.

Property sales remain a key revenue generator for the GDA. In the 2024–25 fiscal year, the Authority collected ₹312 crore through the sale and auction of residential and commercial plots. Officials confirmed that this is the single largest source of income for the agency.

The slot-based registration model is expected to improve efficiency, enhance user experience, and contribute to more streamlined revenue collection for the Authority.
