The Greater Noida Authority has proposed a three-kilometer road project. It will connect the city’s 130-meter-wide road with the 120-meter-wide Yamuna City Road. This aims to strengthen connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, as reported by Hindustan Times.
The proposed road seeks to eliminate a long-standing gap in direct travel. This will benefit Greater Noida West, Ghaziabad, and the airport zone. According to officials, once completed, the new stretch will enable seamless travel via the existing 130-meter-wide road. This road currently spans approximately 30 kilometers from Char Murti Chowk to Sirsa village.
The detailed project report (DPR) is expected to be finalized within two months. Officials said the funding structure will be determined after coordination with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida). They will also coordinate with other relevant agencies. A joint meeting is expected soon to move the proposal forward.
“This road will boost connectivity and help commuters from Ghaziabad, Noida Extension and Noida reach Noida International Airport through this new route once the 3-km stretch is built,” said Sumit Yadav, additional chief executive officer of the Greater Noida Authority.
Yadav and project department officials conducted a field inspection on Monday. They aimed to examine the incomplete segment. They also sought to evaluate necessary steps. Coordination with Yeida will be crucial in planning the construction timeline and execution, authorities said.
Officials also noted that part of the proposed alignment falls under the jurisdiction of the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department. This makes inter-departmental collaboration essential. The authority is considering constructing a rotary at the Ghangola roundabout. This is where the current 130-meter-wide road ends.
In addition, an underpass is being proposed near Sirsa village to facilitate movement across the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. This is part of a broader strategy. The goal is to ensure seamless regional connectivity. This is in preparation for increased traffic following the airport’s anticipated launch by the end of 2025.
Greater Noida Authority CEO Ravi Kumar NG has directed officials to expedite widening work along the 130-meter corridor. This is to accommodate future travel demand associated with the airport.
Local residents have welcomed the plan. “It would be beneficial to connect the two roads. This connection will provide a seamless travel experience to the airport,” said Nikita Singh, a resident of Noida Extension. “Noida Extension needs better connectivity. The authority must explore more ways to enhance connectivity in this part of Greater Noida.”
