The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority on Sunday said it is expediting the acquisition of the remaining 386 hectares. This is part of a planned 900-hectare land parcel. The goal is to complete the development of eight new industrial sectors, as published by Hindustan Times.

The plan to develop these sectors was announced in 2021 to meet growing demand for industrial land. Over the past three years, the authority has taken possession of only 580 hectares. They purchased the entire 900 hectares, officials said.

The delay stems from challenges in securing physical possession of the land. According to authority representatives, some farmers are hesitant to hand over their plots.

“With Noida International Airport expected to become operational shortly, demand for industrial plots is rising rapidly,” said Ravi Kumar NG. He is the CEO of the Greater Noida Authority. “In recent years, global investors have shown keen interest in Greater Noida. Domestic investors are also keen on setting up operations here. Several proposals for land acquisition have already been submitted for industrial use.”

Kumar said the authority is working with farmers to expedite the land possession process. They aim to develop and allocate industrial plots to meet investor demand. “We are targeting 900 hectares of ready-to-allot land. These are across eight industrial sectors. This is positioning Greater Noida as a global industrial destination,” he said.

The eight sectors under development include Ecotech 7, Ecotech 8, Ecotech 9, 12A, 16, 19, 19A and Ecotech 21. Land acquisition will proceed with support from farmers willing to sell and hand over their plots without delay, officials said.

Girish Kumar Jha is an officer on special duty with the Greater Noida Authority. He said the administration has been meeting with farmers regularly. They aim to resolve possession-related hurdles. Their goal is to move forward with development goals.

CEO Kumar has directed the land acquisition department to intensify coordination with landowners. Their goal is to establish a complete land bank of 900 hectares. The urgency, he noted, stems from a surge in interest. Both domestic and international investors are preparing to set up industrial units. They intend to do this once the nearby airport becomes operational.

Over the past year, the authority has already taken possession of sizable land tracts across the eight sectors. These include 89 hectares in Ecotech 7, 77 hectares in Sector 8, and 103 hectares in Sector 9. Additionally, there are 101 hectares in Sector 12A, 38 hectares in Sector 16, and 46 hectares in Sector 19. Officials confirmed 11 hectares in Sector 19A and 48 hectares in Ecotech 21.
