In a renewed push to improve connectivity across Gurugram, the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) is actively pursuing improvements. The organization has directed local authorities to acquire land at eight critical locations. This will link master sector roads directly to the Dwarka Expressway. Officials confirmed this initiative, as published by Hindustan Times.
The land is expected to be acquired through various methods. These include land pooling, use of the e-bhoomi portal, or offering Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) to landowners. The goal is to resolve bottlenecks that have long hindered connectivity to the expressway. It is also to facilitate the completion of storm water drains along the Central Peripheral Road (CPR).
The HSVP had earlier acquired a 150-meter-wide strip of land for a 19-kilometer stretch of the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram. Initial plans included developing green spaces along both sides of the expressway. However, financial limitations prevented land acquisition for these areas. This delay affected the landscaping efforts.
To address these issues, HSVP’s Chief Administrator has given instructions to local agencies. They must explore the acquisition of eight land parcels that have not yet been acquired. This will connect sector-dividing roads with the expressway. Additionally, two separate land pockets are targeted along the CPR for building service roads and utility infrastructure.
A committee, led by a land acquisition officer, has been formed to examine the matter and provide final recommendations. The committee is currently reviewing unacquired land that intersects with the alignment of sector roads. Details of these land parcels have already been submitted to the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), officials said.
According to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), approximately 4.33 acres of land is needed to complete road connectivity. The affected areas include Sectors 99A, 101, 102, 102A, 103, 106, 109, 110A, and an additional location near Sector 9. GMDA officials stated that several roads have been constructed and connected. These were completed after commitments were made to landowners. Now, those landowners are demanding timely compensation.
Meanwhile, HSVP has reported that it has successfully removed land acquisition hurdles at 11 locations citywide. The cleared land has been handed over to GMDA to facilitate road construction and other infrastructure development.
These locations include the master sector roads in Sectors 82/82A. They also include 70–71 near Rambir ki Dhani and 85/86. The outer road of Sector 79 is part of these locations. Additionally, Sectors 79/79A, 78/79, 9B/37C, 78/80, 88/89, 81/82, and 71/73 are included.
Officials emphasized that these coordinated efforts aim to eliminate land-related barriers. They seek to accelerate urban roadwork and strengthen overall infrastructure in the region. This enhances connectivity between sectors and eases access to the Dwarka Expressway.
