Delhi Development Authority (DDA) seems to be ready for the big leap.  The regional authority, as well as the prime answer to Delhi’s housing crisis, is set to offer fully furnished penthouses as it plans to venture into luxury housing.

As per the reports, for the first time in its history, DDA will be setting foot in luxury housing, which is otherwise a domain of private builders only. The said project will be located in Dwarka.

The authority will develop a luxury residential complex in sector 19B of Dwarka in southwest Delhi comprising of 11 residential towers. The project will have 1114 flats, of which 932 will be HIG flats, 168 will be super HIG flats and 14 will be penthouses.

The scheme is expected to be out in the next housing scheme in 2020.

The flats that would be ready by next year, would be offered as part of housing scheme 2020 and the penthouses and HIG flats in Dwarka are also expected to be completed by this year end and would be offered in the next housing scheme,” Times Of India quoted a senior official as saying.

The penthouses offered by DDA in its luxury housing segment will be a duplex and fully furnished with built-in terrace gardens, luxury fittings and other amenities. The penthouses will have four bedrooms and the super HIG flats will have three bedrooms with attached bathrooms in each flat along with servant quarters.

The entire project will be built using the green building concept along with solar heating, organic waste disposal and energy efficient lighting. In fact, DDA is reportedly claiming that its flats in Dwarka Sector 19B will rival any other high-end luxury flat or penthouse built by private developers.

Officials said the premium flats in Dwarka Sector 19B will help the authority to fund more affordable housing in the city.

DDA is known for its affordable houses targetted for the lower income group (LIG) and middle income group (MIG) categories. Although the authority has built and delivered HIG flats earlier as well, this would be the first time that the authority will be offering luxury flats in such large numbers.
