In a significant development, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has given its nod to an ambitious infrastructure project – the Chilla elevated road. This road project, with an estimated cost of Rs 787 crore, aims to connect Mayur Vihar in Delhi with the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, promising enhanced connectivity and reduced travel time for commuters.

The financing of the project will be divided between the state government and the Authority. The UP government will contribute Rs 393 crore, while the remaining amount will be borne by the Authority, making it a collaborative effort to improve regional connectivity.

To spearhead the implementation of this ambitious project, the UP State Bridge Corporation Limited (UBSBCL) has been entrusted as the implementing agency. To select the most competent company for the task, UBSBCL is set to float a tender and is expected to finalize the company by 15th August, 2023.

As of now, only a little over 10 percent of the work has been completed, and the rest is estimated to cost around Rs 600 crore. However, the commencement of construction will be subject to receiving all necessary clearances, ensuring that the project adheres to regulatory requirements.

The Chilla elevated road project has undergone a rigorous planning process. In September 2022, the empowered finance committee directed UPSBCL to furnish a detailed project report (DPR). Following thorough scrutiny and approval by the committee, the project report was subsequently submitted to the state cabinet for final approval, which has now been granted.

Once completed, the Chilla elevated road is expected to be a game-changer for the region’s transportation infrastructure. It will not only alleviate traffic congestion but also provide a safer and more efficient commute for residents and commuters traveling between Delhi and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

The approval of this outlay represents a significant step towards achieving better connectivity and transportation facilities in the region. As the project takes off in the coming months, it is anticipated to bring about positive socio-economic impacts for the citizens of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh alike.
