The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, or YEIDA, will develop a logistics and warehousing hub in Sector 8F near the upcoming Noida International Airport, officials said Sunday. The decision was finalized during YEIDA’s board meeting on Saturday, reported by the Hindustan Times.
Shailendra Bhatia, officer on special duty at YEIDA, noted that flight operations, including cargo services, are expected to begin soon at the Noida airport. “Sector 8F’s proximity to the airport will make storage and transportation of goods easier and more efficient,” he said.
A consultant will be appointed shortly to determine the best approach for developing the sector. Based on the consultant’s study, a detailed layout plan will be prepared, considering plot sizes and other requirements, to guide future development schemes.
Officials estimate that the Noida airport will handle approximately two million tonnes of cargo from the first day of operations. Currently, goods exported daily from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, originating from Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, could be shipped directly from Noida, making import and export more cost effective and improving connectivity for businesses. Entrepreneurs will be able to use the new logistics and warehousing facilities to streamline storage and transportation for seamless international trade.
In addition, YEIDA is advancing plans for a major multimodal logistics park at Tappal Bajna, about 10 kilometers from the airport. This project is part of YEIDA’s Master Plan 2031, Phase Two. The authority has begun acquiring approximately 1,900 hectares of land in the Tappal region and has implemented measures such as banning land registries to prevent encroachments and protect the 1,040 crore rupee project.
The Tappal Bajna facility is designed to integrate warehousing, cargo handling, and connectivity with the Yamuna Expressway, serving a broad catchment area including Ghaziabad.
