NOIDA – Noida International Airport (NIA) has partnered with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) to establish compressed natural gas (CNG) infrastructure, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transportation, as published by NEWS18.

As part of the agreement, IGL will construct two CNG stations—one in the west precinct and another within the airside area—to serve passengers, airport staff, and business partners. The company will also oversee the development of a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network, ensuring seamless access to CNG stations.

The collaboration extends to installing a pipeline system to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to food and beverage outlets, lounges, and kitchens inside the terminal and other airport facilities.

“Our partnership with Indraprastha Gas Limited is another milestone in our mission to build a sustainable and future-ready airport,” said Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport. “By integrating CNG infrastructure, we are offering cleaner fuel alternatives to airport users while advancing the broader transition to greener mobility in the region.”

This initiative aligns with NIA’s broader goal of developing an environmentally responsible and energy-efficient airport.

In its initial phase, NIA will accommodate 12 million passengers annually with a single runway and terminal. By the fourth phase, capacity is expected to rise to 70 million passengers per year, establishing it as a key regional aviation hub.
